Terms of Engagement

Before you proceed, take a moment to read through the abridged version of our Terms of Engagement. Proceed ONLY if you agree to them.

  • This engagement shall be contract-based and fully remote. Clasier Scribes are NOT required to resume at Clasier’s office, and they are NOT staff members of Clasier Publishing Ltd. Rather, they are strictly community-based independent service providers to Clasier Publishing Ltd.
  • The Recruitment Process is made up of 7 stages, as below:

Stage 1

Call for applications

Stage 2

Applicants fill a form on Clasier’s website, providing all required information and documents and links, as well as take the Aptitude and Competence Test.

Stage 3

After application closes, all applications will be reviewed and First Eligible Candidates will be shortlisted, then contacted for Test Edit, to be completed and sent within 72 hours after the email is sent

Stage 4

All Test Edit submissions will be reviewed and a shortlist of Second Eligible Candidates will be created and invited to a virtual interview

Stage 5

The Front-runner Candidates will be shortlisted and invited to our Onboarding Session

Stage 6

A Service Level Agreement will be shared with the Front-runner Candidates for their consideration and subsequent joint execution with Clasier Publishing Ltd. A Professional Ethics Document will also be share alongside

Stage 7

The engagement will commence in earnest

  • All Clasier Scribes are required to uphold the Non-disclosure Agreement in the Service Level Agreement to be executed with our company, and all projects treated with absolute confidentiality. Breach of our Non-disclosure Agreement would attract prosecution using appropriate legal measures.
  • All writing/edting projects are subject to reviews by the Chief Editor at Clasier and the Client concerned, and the Scribe assigned to the project shall be required to implement all observations/corrections noted. Reviews by the Chief Editor are once (before it is shared with the Client) and reviews by the Client are a maximum of twice (with inputs from the Chief Editor, where necessary).
  • The payment scale for manuscript development (ghostwriting) is thus:
    - All fiction genres - N10 per word
    - Creative nonfiction - N10 per word (autobiographies, biographies, memoirs…)
    - Non-creative nonfiction - N8 per word (self-help, business, relationship, etc.
  • The payment scale for all developmental editing (transcript or other content repurposing) is N5 per word for all genres.
  • The payment scale for all manuscript editing (copyediting, line editing & proofreading) is N4 per word for all genres.
  • Clasier Scribes may be required to virtually attend meetings with clients (for assigned projects), hence they are expected to make an effort to be available to participate once invited/notified.
